Ecco's pod getting sucked into the storm.
The abduction of Ecco's pod is the beginning of the story of Ecco 1. It occured all of a sudden during a peaceful regular day in Home Bay. Without warning an enormous vaccuum-like storm appeared and sucked up not only Ecco's pod, but all the life in the area. Only Ecco was miraculously spared. As he descended back into the ocean, he could not find a single member of his pod and even the jellyfish were gone. With nowhere else to go and wanting to find his family, Ecco set off into the great ocean beyond and started his journey.
