The giant eel
The giant eel is an enemy in the Four Ways of Mystery level. It lives in a hole in the ceiling and swoops down to catch prey in its mouth. It is invulnerable to all attacks and can kill Ecco instantly. It guards the entrance to a winding passageway that leads to the exit of the level. To get by Ecco has to use the Song of Mantaray to direct a manta ray to swim under the giant eel to distract it while Ecco slips by.
